 Mitsubishi's new facility |
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has invested around PHP360 million (USD7 million) in additional land and constructed a container yard and materials handling warehouse, increasing the total land area of its Santa Rosa plant from 21 ha to around 23 ha and building area from 83,000 sqm to 120,500 sqm.
For the past few years, MMPC has been leasing three storage facilities outside of its plant for the stockpile of knocked-down units and locally developed parts.
The construction of the new facilities will mean that MMPC can now house these items within its vicinity.
MMPC first vice president for manufacturing division Arnaldo T. Janolo says the reduction in storage, transportation, and materials handling costs will further improve the operational efficiency and quality of the company's products.
MMPC has invested PHP4.3 billion (USD85 million) in support of the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program of the Philippines government.
