Vernon Hills, IL - The Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA) travelled to Jeffersonville, IN to visit Amatrol, a leader in skills-based, technical learning. Amatrol's mission is to "transform the global workforce one life at a time." They accomplish this mission by working with schools and work force industry's around the world, to create "innovative, interactive learning solutions that equip people with the skills to master technical systems, and adapt to a rapidly changing workplace."
Originally Dynafluid, Inc. in 1964, Amatrol started as an industrial automation systems manufacturer designed for large companies around the world. Today, they are the industry's leading technical education provider. Their solutions provide equipment and computer-based learning solutions, integrated with strong alignment to industry needs.
MHEDA members, and material-handling professionals are aware of the growing shortage of forklift technicians in the industry. For years, forklift distributors have been struggling to hire a sufficient amount of forklift technicians needed to satisfy all their customers. The lack of forklift technicians is attributed to the lack of awareness in this growing industry. In order to bring more awareness to these well-paid, rewarding forklift technicians jobs MHEDA started a Certified Forklift Technician Initiative.
In order to bring this initiative to the surface, MHEDA is working with MSSC, the Manufacturers Skills Standards Council. MSSC is a non-profit, industry-led, training, assessment and certification system focused on the core skills and knowledge needed by the nation's front-line production and material handling workers. With these three organizations working together, MHEDA members and material handling professionals should expect more awareness to their industry needs.
MHEDA is a trade association that serves over 600 material handling distributors, suppliers and associate companies worldwide with a variety of education, networking and business services. For more information about joining MHEDA, please visit
