Sydney, JUNE 2022 – With the national construction industry suffering further pandemic-related setbacks in recent months, Australia's leading construction exhibition, Sydney Build Expo, has announced the program for its 2022 edition, with a distinct focus on mental health.

Set to take place at Darling Harbour’s International Convention Centre (ICC) from Wednesday 1 to Thursday 2 June 2022, Sydney Build Expo has confirmed a key pledge in this year’s event will be mental health awareness in the construction industry, with fundraising to be undertaken throughout the Expo to support the construction industry in ANZ.

In what has proven to be an extremely challenging time for the industry, the funds raised at the event will go towards the important work of R U OK? which includes helping tradespeople start meaningful conversations with friends, family and colleagues around issues such as job uncertainty and financial pressures.

A QR code will be made available online and at the event, connecting attendees to R U OK?’s fundraising page, where they can raise funds to support the work of R U OK?.

Meanwhile, mental health and wellness related workshops and presentations will take place at the event in an effort to break down stigmas about mental health and encourage open conversations about personal struggles.

The issue is just one of many topics that are set to be covered at this year’s Sydney Build Expo, which will welcome more than 300 stellar speakers presenting over 400 sessions across eight individual stages, with keynote presentations including Building Supertall in Sydney, Creating Inclusive and Connected Places, Global Retail 2022 – Thinking Outside the Box, Future of Construction and Transport Architecture in an Emerging Sydney: Planes, Trains and Ferries, among others.

A full schedule of CPD-accredited workshops and networking sessions will be taking place across 20 different summits, featuring industry experts and skilled trainers in Sustainability, BIM, Digital Construction, Infrastructure, Roads & Transport and the Future of Construction.

Rivalling that of any construction show worldwide, Sydney Build Expo boasts highly esteemed speakers, among them Amanda Stanaway, Principal, Woods Bagot; Annie Tennant, Director of Design Excellence and Place, NSW Places; David Holm, Director, Cox Architecture; and Andrew Harris, Technical Director, Laing O’Rourke.

In addition, a Diversity in Construction Networking Event will be launched on 1 June to explore the idea of driving change and diversity, to make Australia's built environment an inclusive industry.

Further to this, Australia's largest-ever free meeting of Women in Construction will take place on 2 June, offering the chance for all professionals and students interested in construction, architecture, engineering and related fields to network, learn and feel inspired.

Rounding out the event’s outstanding program, 500 exhibitors will be showcasing their latest products, prop-tech and solutions to over 10,000 industry professionals from across the entire construction industry, from subbies to architects and CEOs to future leaders.
