Safety and materials handling issues will be the focus of Melbourne's upcoming Safety in Action and Melbourne Materials Handling shows, taking place at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on 17-19 April.

The events will showcase hundreds of products and services of interest to managers in warehousing, logistics, site management, maintenance, QA, production, OHS, risk, forklift management and project management, as well as to foremen, building contractors, plant managers, union representatives, emergency services personnel, rehabilitation co-ordinators, occupational therapists, engineers and despatch managers.

The key to any safety program involving forklifts or mobile plant is to ensure that forklift drivers wear correctly fastened seatbelts, according to organisers.

Exhibitor, Switched On I&T Services, will present its range of industrial seatbelts, designed for forklifts and other vehicles used in mining, quarrying construction and earthmoving.

The company's Safe T Belt, which is easy to install via a universal fitting kit, holds the operator firmly, comfortably and safely in his seat. But unbuckled, it springs up, making it a real nuisance and uncomfortable to operate.

Advanced Warehouse Solutions' stand provides visitors with a comprehensive range of services that include automated warehouse design; customised space saving storage; pallet racking dismantling, installation and maintenance; warehouse materials handling equipment; and OH&S-compliant safety audits.

Also of interest to warehouse managers is the ShockWatch product, which detects and prevents damage in the supply chain and storage of products.
