Meijer started in 1921 as a one-man business. Like many companies at the time, the company focused on local agriculture. As a result, the company developed into a contractor and bulldozer rental company, performing repairs and developing and building new machines and machine parts. All bulldozer activities were discontinued in 1980, but the development and construction of special machines remained an important activity for Meijer. They have proven themselves by devising surprising and effective solutions to complex technical problems such as designing and manufacturing special vessels for fossil fuel research in the Wadden Sea, special steering systems for commercial vessels, automated warehouses and many other projects. The knowledge and experience gained through these activities were also of great importance in the development of the current achievements.
In the meantime, sheet metal working was the company's main activity and the company has been active for years under the name "Meijer BV". Meijer distinguishes itself through the use of creativity and technical know-how. In addition, the company has very modern machinery. This, in combination with a very reliable organization and reliable logistics processes, determines the success of Meijer BV.
The origin of Meijer Handling Solutions BV, formerly also known as MSE-FORKS BV, lies in the patented telescopic forks that were introduced in 1980. These telescopic forks were invented and developed by Meijer and were sold to a local company called KOOI BV which was the first to develop the truck-mounted forklifts, namely KOOI-AAP. In the year 2000, Meijer took over the sales and marketing activities of KOOI BV with regard to the "KOOI forks". The official brand name KOOI-REACHFORKS
® was also taken over by Meijer Handling Solutions because of its good and established reputation in the logistics world.
With the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the KOOI
®ReachForks last year, Meijer as a company is still in full swing. Last year the Meijer-Group purchased two Kardex Remstar systems to streamline production and production flow. Due to the growing demand for KOOI
®ReachForks and the diversity of models that Meijer Handling Solutions produces, logistics in the workplace is becoming increasingly important. The diversity of models is prompted by the demand of various manufacturers of forklift trucks and attachments who have developed new areas of application in the field of telescopic forks. Despite the current circumstances, the Meijer Group continues to invest heavily. It was decided to purchase 4 new welding robots with a fully automated unloading and feeding system by means of AGVs. These installations will be used, among other things, to weld the thousands of outer sleeves for the KOOI
®Telescopicforks. The welding robots are able to weld unmanned because the AGV's provide the welding robots with the welding jigs. In addition to this investment, the Meijer Group has also decided to purchase a special deep drilling / milling machine due to the complexity of some telescopic KOOI
®ReachForks. With these investments, Meijer Handling Solutions can produce more efficiently and meet the increased demand of products in the near future.
As a family business, we assume that at the end of this year we will be able to officially celebrate the 100th anniversary with family, colleagues, friends and our business relations. For more information and developments, we ask you to follow us on the various social media platforms.
