A man has died from his injuries after being seriously hurt when he was pinned under a forklift at work in Suffolk, Virginia.

According to officials, the accident occurred in the loading dock area of a storage warehouse building at the Suffolk Industrial Park. 

A fire department spokesman said it took specialised equipment to remove the victim, identified as 30-year-old Raheem Shala Talley Jr. of Newport News, from the wreckage.

Medical teams performed advanced life-support care while stabilising the heavy equipment. Talley was removed from the forklift and taken to the hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.

The Suffolk Police Department is investigating what caused the industrial accident.
