The evolution of battery technology will see forklifts able to operate longer and more efficiently while also charging faster, delegates at RoyPow and Electro Force’s September Lithium Battery Promotion conference in Malaysia were told.

Speaking with Forkliftaction News after the conference, RoyPow’s sales director for Asia Pacific Tommy Tang, explains the event was attended by more than 100 local distributors and partners who joined to explore the future of battery technology.

“As the industry increasingly focuses more on efficiency, safety, environmental sustainability, and cost-effectiveness, battery solutions with higher energy density, faster charging, longer lifespan, and enhanced safety features will become the trend,” Tang explains delegates were told.

“The ongoing research and development and application of new battery materials such as silicon-carbon composites, lithium titanate, and lithium-rich cathode will help increase battery energy density, allowing forklifts to operate longer on a single charge.

“Optimised battery structures and improved battery management systems [will] enhance the safety and stability of batteries, preventing overheating or overcharging and reducing the need for battery maintenance. These technological advancements could redefine the market.

“Regarding the operating cost, by adopting improvements in manufacturing processes, such as automation and standardisation as well as capacity expansion, manufacturers can produce batteries more efficiently and at lower costs per unit, helping reduce the total cost of ownership of a forklift battery, benefiting businesses with cost-effective solutions for their operations.”

Tang says delegates also looked at market demand, concern about end-of-life management of batteries and the need for more investment in research and development.

Headquartered in China’s Huizhou with subsidiaries in the US, Europe, UK, Japan, Australia and South Africa, Roy Pow manufactures batteries and energy storage systems. Electro Force (M) Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian battery distributor of more than 30 years.
