KION Group has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), underlining its KION 2027 strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Part of KION’s SBTi commitment is the target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions along its value chain before 2050.
KION chief people and sustainability officer Valeria Gargiulo says: “With our commitment to the SBTi, we are taking a transparent and clear path to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
“This underscores our commitment for climate-neutral business practices, especially towards our customers and suppliers.
“While we are already diligently working on our own emissions reductions, close collaboration with our business partners is crucial to achieve effective reductions across the entire value chain."
Last year KION achieved its first target of reducing its energy-related emissions by 30% compared to 2017.
The Science Based Targets initiative is a partnership between the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
