Keynote: EU Head of Unit for Maritime Transport at Cool Logistics Global 2023

Annika Kroon, EU Head of Unit for Maritime Transport and Logistics is to be the Keynote speaker on Day Three of the Cool Logistics Global Conference in Genoa, Italy from October 10-12, 2023 at The Stock Exchange, during Genoa Shipping Week. Ms Kroon's speech will be followed by presentations from Bureau International des Containers (BIC), in their 90th year, celebrating their work on leading subjects such as digitalisation, tracking and environmental impact.
 
BIC sessions concentrate on Cool Cargo Integrity – Risks and Opportunities and will be delivered by industry leading speakers including Andy Connell, Lead Technical Consultant, A-bar-C Services (Moderator); Douglas Owen, Secretary General, Bureau International des Containers (BIC); Michael Downes, Owner, Southern Container Advisory; David Roff, Independent Consultant, CIF Consulting; Marianna Levtov, Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, Nexxiot and Andrew Watson-Steward, Senior underwriter, TT Club.
 
The afternoon of Day Three will turn its focus to the Mediterranean with Rafaell Cioni, Managing Director, Interporto Toscano Amerigo Vespucci S.p.A. and Frans Waals, Senior Port & Shipping Consultant, Dynamar, amongst others, looking into the issues and difficulties shipments have when accessing Mediterranean ports. Insight into the lessons that can be learned from a southern outlook will be shared by Stefano Di Paolo, EU Product Director Chiquita /President & GM, GWF, Chiquita and Great White Fleet.
 
Over 40 speakers are taking part in the 15th Cool Logistics Global Conference, the packed first day kicks off with an analysts’ outlook of the world perishables trade, reefer cargo and supply chain logistics featuring Drewry, Accenture and CTS. Other sessions on day one include Changing Markets and Changing Expectations exploring the route towards #netzero #nowaste, and future directions for cool logistics.
 
Infrastructure and Freight Futures sessions include the Strategic Outlook for the European cold chain logistics sector presented by Rabobank delve into trends, regulatory environment and consumption. The first learnings and results will be shared of The Rotterdam Reefer Efficiency Project - a collaborative effort among all the cold supply chain stakeholders involved at the port to research the various bottlenecks that can occur during inspection processes and develop joint solutions to positively impact cool logistics.  
 
The second Conference Day will focus on innovation across the end-to-end cool supply chain looking at the building blocks and stumbling blocks on the road to a #net zero, #no waste world.  From where are we today, and what’s been achieved and what’s changed to what the key emerging developments are that we should all be thinking about right now.

Attendees will also benefit from pre-show Port Tour on the afternoon prior to first conference day encompassing the old habour and the chance to visit the terminal PSA Genova Pra'. This will be followed by the Icebreaker Networking Reception in the lovely surroundings of Genoa’s Porto Antico at NH Collection Marina Hotel. The Official Welcome Reception at the end of the first Day will be held at the World Heritage Unesco stunning Palazzo Gio Carlo Brignole. There is also a post conference port tour on the morning of 13 October to Vado Gateway - the first semi-automated terminal in Italy, and Reefer Terminal, leading fruit terminal on the Mediterranean Sea, run by APM Terminals.
