G.N. Johnston Equipment Co. Ltd., a Canadian authorised sales and service centre of The Raymond Corporation, has acquired the assets of The Econo-Rack Group Inc.

Econo-Rack became a wholly owned subsidiary of Johnston this month.

Econo-Rack is the leading Canadian manufacturer and dealer of racking and related materials handling products and services. The company has eight locations, including a 210,000 sqft. (19,500 sqm) manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ontario.

"This acquisition adds value for customers, both current and prospective, through expanded product offerings for diverse application and operational needs," says Michael Marcotte, president and chief executive officer of Johnston Equipment.

G.N. Johnston Equipment has a 60-year reputation for cost-effective materials handling equipment, systems and service solutions. Besides Raymond products, it also represents BT Lift Trucks.

Johnston Equipment has 14 strategically located offices in Canada and employs more than 840 staff.

The acquisition boosts its presence to more than 1,100 staff.
