No-one likes - or benefits from - a trade war. So major forklift manufacturers will be closely watching the escalation of tensions between the US and the EU.
US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 20% tariff on US imports of vehicles assembled in the European Union - and there's no doubt that forklifts will be lumped in at some stage.
The US has already targeted forklift imports from China - a move widely criticised, including by American forklift manufacturers.
Materials handling is one of the most diverse industries, with strong manufacturers in Europe, the US and Asia all competing in a buoyant market which seems to have space for all. Any attempts to disrupt the free flow of products would have broad implications for everyone.
Let's hope we don't see further escalations.
