Last week, it was Mitsubishi and UniCarriers. This week, we report on the merger of Konecranes and Terex.
It looks like the consolidation trend has escalated as the large players look for increased productivity, enlarged markets and technology synergies - and of course, improved financial performance.
It will be some time until we see the final form of the latest merged entity, but there doesn't appear to be too much overlap between the product lines of Konecranes and Terex, so the product may well be greater than the sum of its parts.
So, now, the pundits will probably be looking to see who is next ...
