As we have reported previously, the 'trade war' between the United States and China is already affecting the forklift industry, but now there is a warning that its impact will widen to the broader economy.
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) this week cautioned that "the world economy is in a dangerous place", noting that any intensification of the trade tensions would have a negative impact on the American and global economies.
"Unless there is a de-escalation of trade tensions, the outcome could be much worse than in our central scenario," said OECD secretary-general Angel Gurria.
Forkliftaction has never taken sides in the trade dispute, and we won't do so now. But we do join those in the materials handling sector who call for level heads and economic realism.
