Toyota Material Handling's woes continue, with more models now suspended because of concerns about compliance with EPA standards.
Of course, there's never a good time to halt production and stop shipping, but the impact is surely being softened by the rise of alternatives to diesel and LPG forklifts. Toyota itself has noted the rise of electric forklifts, and, each week, we see new models venturing into market segments traditionally dominated by ICE forklifts.
Five years ago, the suspension would have been devastating for the folk in Indiana and extremely disruptive for dealers and forklift buyers. Now, it's concerning, but probably not make or break.
Thank goodness for the growing alternatives and options in the market.
