WERC's 2017 Warehousing Salaries and Wages Report is now available at werc.org. |
Warehousing and logistics professionals anticipate that wages and hiring will increase in 2018, according to the 2017 Warehousing Salaries and Wages Report published by the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC). The report presents up-to-date statistics on the salary and employment practices in the industry, from VPs to forklift operators. "This survey, and the other research and best practices guide produced by
WERC, give professionals a view beyond their operation's walls," said WERC CEO Michael Mikitka. "It's a valuable, evidence-based tool to support informed decision-making."
The survey gathers position descriptions, salary and wage data, education and experience levels, as well as demographic information on the type, size and location of operations. With a wide range of data assembled, hiring managers and HR staff can find data points that most closely reflect their own company and develop compensation policies that are well-aligned with the industry.
Report highlights include:- Salaries among vice-presidents of marketing or sales account for the largest decrease.
- E-commerce has a slim edge over traditional channels (e.g. face-to-face, catalog, etc.) in how orders are being received.
- More than 60 per cent of respondents indicate wages will increase by one to three per cent in 2018, and nearly 25 per cent responded that wages will increase by four or five per cent.
- 40 per cent of respondents indicate hiring will increase by one to three per cent, while approximately 33 per cent responded hiring will stay the same.
The full report can be purchased online at werc.org. This year's survey includes responses from both WERC members and
Council of Supply Chain Management Professional members. The survey is sponsored by
Staffmark, one of the largest staffing companies in the country. This Best of Staffing-Client Diamond award winning company has supported the warehouse and logistics industry for more than 40 years and is a long-time WERC member.
