A spate of ATM thefts has inspired a bystander to call police after noticing a forklift in a bank one night (
Forkliftaction.com News #224).
The Newcastle Herald reported police rushed to the ANZ bank, in Cessnock, New South Wales, only to find contract workers installing a new bank vault.
A Statewide Safe Relocations spokesperson said police checked the workers' identification and security passes before letting them complete the task.
"An interested bystander must have called in and said there was a forklift inside the bank," he said. "You can understand, with all the robberies in Sydney, especially after the Easter show with all the ATMs that have gone off."
