French container port Générale de Manutention Portuaire (GMP) in Le Havre, has signed a deal with Kalmar for 26 hybrid straddle carriers with delivery expected in Q2 and Q3 2025.
Once delivered, GMP Le Havre will have a fleet of 54 Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers on site, with the first order having been placed in 2020.
GMP Le Havre’s last order from Kalmar was for four hybrid straddle carriers in October 2023.
GMP Le Havre chief executive officer Louis Jonquière says the eco-efficient reachstackers are helping the company to reduce its carbon footprint.
“Kalmar and GMP Le Havre are united by a shared commitment to safe and sustainable cargo handling,” Jonquière adds of the large order.
“Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers have proven an ideal fit for our operations as we continue to reduce our carbon footprint through investing in product designs which conserve energy and lower greenhouse gas emissions.”
GMP Le Havre is a leading French container port handling 2 million TEUs annually.
