Western Sydney Airport attracts interest
Ten of Australia's major freight companies have signed memoranda of understanding (MOU) with Western Sydney Airport, due to open in 2026.

The MOU will see Western Sydney Airport work with the airfreight industry to design concepts for an on-airport freight precinct and begin discussions about potential operations from Sydney's new airport.

Western Sydney Airport chief executive Graham Millett says the airport has the potential to become Sydney's most important freight hub, generating many of the airport's thousands of jobs.

Freight companies which had signed to work with Western Sydney Airport on concepts for the air freight hub include Australia Post, DB Schenker, DHL Express, DSV Air and Sea, FedEx, Menzies Aviation, Swissport, Qantas Freight, Skyroad Logistics and Wymap.

Construction of Western Sydney International is under way, with the airport scheduled to open in 2026.
