Forklift used to bring down neighbour’s fence

A man rented a forklift to demolish his neighbour's fence because he couldn't get his boat into his backyard.

A Cape Coral ordinance required boats to be stored off the street, usually in backyards. Tim Trimble, 53, had racked up USD63,450 in fines for the code violation for more than two years.

Despite Trimble's disregard for the city ordinance, he dismantled neighbour Rosario Castro's fence using a Bobcat forklift last week, The News-Press reported. He now faces criminal mischief charges.

The report said Trimble and Castro had had a contentious relationship for two years. Castro's son, Hector, called police when he saw Trimble ripping up the fence, concrete footings and sprinklers with the Bobcat.

Trimble was reportedly a regular at Cape Coral council meetings, often bringing long lists of civic complaints. He claimed he was arrested to halt his attendance at council meetings.
