The Danville branch of Hyster-Yale dealer MH Equipment and consultant-trainer Grey & Associates are providing input for Danville Area Community College (DACC)'s classroom and on-site forklift operator training program.

DACC can provide on-site forklift training for businesses and, quarterly, "we offer open enrolment forklift training" for workers at small companies and individuals wanting to learn how a forklift is constructed and the factors impacting forklift balance and manoeuvrability, says Diane Hall, co-ordinator of customised training in the college's corporate education division.

For the class, "we have a partnership with MH", which delivers a forklift to the college for use during the training, she says.

Ten individuals have enrolled for the next four-hour class, which takes place on 3 August in the technology centre on the Danville campus. In addition to introducing individuals to the equipment, the class provides training to help keep businesses' employees and workplace conditions in compliance with forklift safety standards of the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Champaign, Illinois-based Grey & Associates is providing the services of safety and occupational health consultants and trainers.
