The number of new distribution and supply chain facilities dropped in April, according to a leading US analyst.

According to IMI SalesLeads, 167 new projects in the distribution and supply chain sector have been identified - a decrease of 19% from the previous month.

The researchers note that most of the new projects (153) are warehouses while 14 new DCs are also on the horizon.

Texas leads the way, with 15 major projects, followed by California (13) and Florida with 12.

Five new distribution and supply chain facility construction projects with an estimated value of USD100 million or more have been identified, the largest being a USD420 million Fedex warehouse in Romulus, Michigan.

The second-largest project is an aerospace component manufacturer’s warehouse, maintenance, and office facility in Oklahoma City, budgeted at USD255 million.
