The Scandinavian market is known for its focus on environmental and ergonomic considerations. This applies particularly in industries like fisheries, which is one of the most challenging applications for drivers and lift trucks to operate in. Its harsh, corrosive and demanding conditions test the limits of technology.

Cat® Lift Trucks offers several options to safeguard the operator and keep him relaxed and productive while using his lift truck in difficult conditions. In addition to the many standard features such as the precise hydraulic fingertip control, the smooth steering control or the multifunctional display, these trucks can be fitted with any of the many cabin solutions to keep the operator protected from the elements.

For example, for outside applications, the fully tiltable Deluxe cabin (on 2 to 5.5 tonne models) mounted on four rubber shock-absorbing mounts, delivers very low noise and vibration levels. Another great advantage of this cabin is the possibility to electrically tilt the whole cabin backwards, allowing a service engineer to perform the regular maintenance in no time and without effort.

If you're looking for a more flexible solution, the best choice is a panel cabin. These can be ordered from the factory or obtained as a retrofit kit from the local Cat® dealer. A range of configurations are offered to match differing needs. Choices vary from transparent roof only, through to semi- or fully enclosed operator cabins. Doors are available in steel and PVC versions; the former come with two-way sliding windows. Heating, cooling and audio system options complete the packages of this unique and safety-enhancing cabin.

In the specific case of the fisheries, there are also specific trucks designed to do the job. Cat® corrosion-protected lift trucks, for example, are sealed against the elements and galvanised to resist salt water and other rusting factors common in this industry. These trucks are designed to withstand the worst of these harsh applications.

With the galvanised chassis and masts options, the lifetime of the truck is extended, by protecting its surface against rust and some aggressive chemicals. A galvanised Cat lift truck is therefore perfectly suited for the fishing, food, port and chemical industries. The galvanised option offered on the IC and Electric trucks range includes the complete chassis, wings, safety cage, floorboards, bulkhead and, in the case of electric trucks, the battery compartment panels and the battery cover. In the case of the mast, the treatment includes all exposed parts of the mast, strengthening beams, carriage/integral side-shifter and load rest.

Other features like wet disc brakes make these trucks suitable for the fisheries applications, one of the paramount industries in Scandinavia. The 'maintenance-free' brakes are ideal also for trucks destined for other food industries because they're fully enclosed and have no loss of performance. The newest range of electric trucks that will be introduced shortly to the market includes also 'IPx4' rain and splashing water resistance preparation. This new EP13-20(C)PN(T) range has also IP54 traction and hydraulic motors, further adding durability of the trucks.

With long-term experience of delivery to challenging environments, Cat Lift Trucks knows the demands that need to be met. In addition to high-performance lift trucks, an extensive dealer network, fully equipped to deliver tailored materials handling solutions across the globe is offered. A unique and powerful infrastructure equips the Cat dealer network to provide you with the best equipment, service and advice in the industry.
