The new warehouse is Dixon International's fourth in DublinIrish logistics and distribution company Dixon International Transport has opened a 46,000-pallet fully automated warehouse next to its headquarters in Dublin.
The EU35 million (USD37.6 million) facility, which has chilled and heated storage space, has been fitted out with Moffat Automation’s Taxi automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS).
“We feel the mixture of chilled and ambient in the new warehouse will open many avenues for the business as this will be attractive to a multitude of industries such as food, pharma and life sciences,” says Michael Dixon, managing director of Dixon International Transport.
The automated warehouse is also environmentally friendly, running completely from solar power.
The state-of-the-art automated system means that the facility will operate as a dark warehouse, with little to no internal lighting required, thus further reducing energy consumption.
The new warehouse is Dixon International’s fourth in Dublin, which store a mixture of temperature-controlled and ambient pharmaceutical product, as well as high grade food stuffs.
