Virginia Forklifts donated use of a Hyundai forklift |
Virginia Forklift has been recognised for helping out in the wake of the recent tornado destruction in the town of Waverly, Virginia.
The Richmond-based forklift dealer donated use of a 15,500 lb. (7,000 kg) capacity Hyundai forklift to help with the clean-up after the devastating EF-1 tornadoes hit Virginia.
A citation from Waverly town officials acknowledges the dealer's "outstanding performance and ongoing contributions" in the response and relief effort.
Operations manager Sonja Alvis says Virginia Forklift believes in "giving back to the community".
"We want to encourage other rental houses to step (up) during natural disasters and not to focus so much on the bottom line. If you have the equipment, donate it; if you have the manpower, send them to assist.
"A natural disaster is not a time to look for a profit but to just do the right thing and help your neighbour," she says.
Virginia Forklift has been servicing the Central Virginia area since 1978.
Besides Hyundai equipment, Virginia Forklift sells, services and rents Narrow Aisle Flexi and Christman Navigator equipment.
