Irish forklift champion crowned
Dublin, IrelandSamuel Miller from Ballymena has been crowned the Irish National Champion at the RTITB (formerly the Road Transport Industry Training Board) Operator of the Year Irish National Final hosted by Daralinn Training in Dublin.
Miller says the event was "very well organised and useful for developing a healthy and safe work practice". He received a shopping voucher, a trophy sponsored by Toyota Material Handling UK and will compete for the national title at the Grand Final on 16 September.
The first runner-up was Brenda Meagher who was trained by Jungheinrich, and Seamus Day who was trained by Daralinn Training came third. The competitors undertook two practical tests, a pre-use check and a theory test. They were marked on a "penalties" basis where the competitor with the lowest number of penalties was crowned the winner.
JCB ladies step out in style for charity
Rocester, United KingdomA group of 42 Staffordshire JCB female employees will join the Race for Life at Trentham Gardens, Stoke-on-Trent next Tuesday to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Under the name of "JC Bees", the ladies will wear yellow JCB t-shirts, wings and antennae.
The JC Bees have already raised over GBP6,700 (USD11,031) towards their GBP7,000 (USD11,524) target.
Linde launches ultimate challenge
Basingstoke, United KingdomLinde Material Handling is launching its annual Ultimate Operator Challenge 2011.
The competition celebrates the skill and precision of its customer workforce and aims to promote best practice among forklift operators.
Forklift operators can participate by contacting their local Linde National Network Company (NNC). The heats will take place at local Linde NNCs throughout the year. Heat winners will compete at the 19 November final at Linde Jewsbury's in Castleford to win a place at the annual international forklift challenge in Aschaffenburg, Germany.
