Jungheinrich WMS recognised
Hamburg, GermanyThe Jungheinrich Warehouse Management System (WMS) has been chosen as the Best Factory Software of 2018 by the Industry 4.0 Research and Application Centre at the University of Potsdam. From a total of 30 systems nominated, a jury made up of scientists and logistics industry representatives selected Jungheinrich's warehouse management software as the winner in the "Logistics" category.
The Jungheinrich WMS won over the jurors above all due to its particularly significant customer benefits and easy integration into existing software structures. According to Markus Skof, vice president for warehouse management solutions at Jungheinrich: "Digitalisation and connectivity are the levers to make logistics processes more efficient. Jungheinrich is both a logistics system provider and a software supplier in one. The Jungheinrich WMS supports our customers in the transition towards a digitalised warehouse 4.0, enabling any company, whether it is a global player or a small or medium-sized enterprise - to connect its processes profitably and manage them perfectly, thus ensuring their profitability and future viability."
ICHCA Technical Panels renamed
London, UKICHCA International, the global association for cargo handling professionals, is set to launch three new working groups on Dangerous Goods, Digital & Innovation and Straddle Carrier Safety. The new groups will form part of the recently-renamed ICHCA Technical Panel (ITP), which meets for the 79th time on 18 April in The Hague, hosted by APM Terminals.
Originally known as the International Safety Panel and more recently as the ISP Technical Panel, ITP is a core working body of ICHCA International, developing technical publications, guidelines and recommendations on a wide range of issues in cargo handling and operations, supporting ICHCA's Technical Queries service to members and inputting to the Association's work at IMO and other regulatory bodies.
The three new working groups were established following consultation with the ITP's 80+ members who represent cross-sectoral private and public-sector experience from the worlds of shipping, ports and terminals, logistics, inland transport, insurance and finance, equipment and technology.

LGH Recognised by LEEA, ISO
Manchester, UKLifting Gear Hire (LGH) has become a full member of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) and received ISO 9001 accreditation, just weeks after marking a year back in the UK marketplace.
Recognition from the LEEA, the world's leading representative body for all those involved in the industry, and the International Organization for Standardization, is a double endorsement of LGH's ever-growing stature in the industry..
Phil Smith, commercial manager at LGH, says: "If you want to be regarded as a serious player in the lifting market, being a fully-fledged LEEA member is vital. The organisation provides all members with advice and support on virtually any related topic concerning lifting, which is simply not available elsewhere. LEEA works closely with the HSE [UK Health and Safety Executive] and is widely regarded as the lifting standard - not only in the UK but worldwide."
The LEEA has been providing specialist training services to its members for over 50 years and has its own dedicated training centre in Huntingdon, UK. LGH personnel are expected to undertake varying levels of these courses depending on the extent of their exposure to product and the requirement of an individual to understand best practice in advising customers on what products to use.
