Mentor funds ambulances
Derbyshire, United KingdomA charitable donation from Mentor FLT Training is helping international development organisation Transaid to double the size of its bicycle ambulance fleet for a new project in Zambia.
At the recent SHD Logistics Awards, the company pledged its support to Transaid's new access to healthcare project in Zambia. This pledge, along with others made on the night, will see the purchase of as many as 12 new bicycle ambulances for the project.
Transaid's key aim is to transform lives through safe available and sustainable transport throughout the developing world: including improving occupational safety for those working in materials handling and logistics; providing individuals with valuable skills and training; and ensuring communities have access to vital healthcare.
The project will use bicycle ambulances to tackle severe cases of malaria in young children, ensuring they receive vital new medicine which will delay the onset of severe malarial symptoms, giving them enough time to reach a health facility and receive life-saving healthcare.
