RTITB releases app for iPhone
Telford, United KingdomWorkplace transport training accrediting body RTITB has released an app for the iPhone. The free app, designed for employers in transport, warehousing and logistics, allows users to access industry news, advice and training information while on the move.
The app's features include the 'Knowledge Hub', which gives users access to a vast amount of information in the form of videos, articles, and advice on a range of industry subjects. The Knowledge Hub also answers questions like 'Who should we train as an in-house instructor?' or 'What does good workplace transport training look like?' and provides advice on finding training providers.
Safety accreditation for Flexi
Tipton, United KingdomFlexi Narrow Aisle has been awarded accreditation from Safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety.
The company says its application for Safecontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the Flexi business.
John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor, says: "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place."
Safecontractor is a third-party accreditation scheme which recognises high standards in health and safety management among UK contractors.
Lomond expands with JCB
Rocester, United KingdomScottish company Lomond Plant Hire has taken delivery of JCB Loadall telehandlers and other equipment in a deal worth over GBP6 million to support its expansion.
Many of the new machines will be used in the company's new depot in St Helens, Merseyside, serving customers around the northwest of England.
Other equipment ordered included tracked excavators, wheeled excavators, mini-excavators, backhoe loaders and tandem rollers. The new fleet also has over 20 of JCB's new 85Z-1 and 86C-1 midi-excavators. Lomond is one of the first companies to buy the new models, launched to the UK market in September.
TVH app finishes test phase
Waregem, BelgiumThe MyTotalSourceapp (MTS) by TVH is now available free of charge after an intensive test phase. TVH presented the demo version of the Android app at CeMAT in Hannover in May.
TVH developed the app to provide smartphone users with easier and quicker access to the existing MyTotalSource webshop.
The app allows users to consult their order history faster and call up offers. Photographs and technical information of the parts can also be easily accessed. The orders currently still pass via the MTS webshop. TVH says the app will soon become available for iPhone users.
