Forklift attachment specialist Attollo has developed an app for the forklift industry called SpecMyFLT for use on an iPad.

MD Stefan Marschner tells Forkliftaction.com News that the app, which he believes is the first of its kind for the forklift industry, provides forklift dealers with a useful tool to collect the forklift specifications required when preparing a quote for a client.

"The information and photographs entered using the app will be automatically emailed to the forklift salesperson, while a copy will be sent to their office, enabling their sales support team to react promptly in preparing a quote, or in the case of a new salesperson, to enable the sales manager to help mentor them, whilst still on site. ie. real time training which saves time and the necessity of a second site visit.

"If an attachment is also required, then the specs and photographs will be sent to our support team at Attollo to review the requirements and send a fast quote."

According to Marschner, the response from the forklift industry has been extremely positive. "From small traders to the larger multi-nationals, the most common response has been that this app has not been thought of before and that this type of technology will change the industry."

"Sales managers say that they do not have to spend as much time training their team as the app follows the logical steps required to complete a site survey."

He says that traditionally, forklift sales people had to either learn all about attachments or rely on communicating the old way to find out even the most basic information.

"Our challenge was to take our problem-solving mentality and apply it to a tool that could help salesmen capture key information that can help them identify end-user requirements whilst 'on the job'. We then decided to develop it in the latest technology."

The app is available in a 'lite' version and a more comprehensive version is currently being developed at the request of forklift companies who want it tailored to their specific needs, says Marschner.
