The United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) will approach companies in the near future to identify talent which could be released to help the association.
While the UKWA has plenty of experienced volunteers available, it is seeking those from the younger generation with the energy and vision to provide the association with "a perfect balance of talent".
"Our search for talent is a continuous process and hard work. The seed bed for volunteer Board candidates is to be found among the young, busy and eager executives we have in our industry," says CEO Roger Williams.
While young executives are focused on the business of their companies, Williams says exposure to board-level process and debate within the association can be an "interesting and productive part of young executives' development".
The UKWA has a strong core of family-based companies that have always provided a significant percentage of the members of the UKWA management board. This is because the historical roots of the association lie with small family-based firms.
Directors and senior members of family firms have been involved in the UKWA since it was established in 1944 and their contribution tend to be for a longer period than those from bigger corporations. Hence, the UKWA says it will continue to seek embryonic volunteers from family-based firms.
