Mitsubishi Nichiyu, which produces Mitusbishi and Nichiyu forklifts, has moved up the dhf world ranking list. |
Mitsubishi Nichiyu, which aims to be one of the world's top three forklift manufacturers (
Forkliftaction.com News #610,
#654), has moved up
dhf's annual world ranking of industrial truck makers.
In the latest ranking, the top 10 industrial truck makers retained their positions except for Mitsubishi Nichiyu, which moved up from eighth to seventh place, taking the other Japanese manufacturer, UniCarriers, down one place.
Toyota, KION and Jungheinrich remain the world's three largest industrial truck manufacturers, with Toyota widening the gap from KION in the latest list. Powered industrial truck sales for Toyota were valued at EUR5.682 billion (USD6.153 billion) in the latest list, compared to EUR4.9 billion (USD5.3 billion) in the previous list. Meanwhile, KION's powered industrial truck sales were worth EUR4.495 billion (USD4.868 billion) - down from the previous financial year's EUR4.727 billion (USD5.119 billion).
In early 2013,
Forkliftaction.com News reported that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries merged its forklift operations with that of Nippon Yusoki Co Ltd. The new company, Mitsubishi Nichiyu Forklift Co Ltd, has stated that global expansion is a priority. Operations commenced for the company in April 2013 with about 5,000 employees and former Nichiyu president Hideaki Ninomiya became the new president.
Notable changes in the latest
dhf world ranking include the omissions of Chinese manufacturer The Hytsu Group and Italian side stacker specialist Baumann Srl.
Dhf says both manufacturers did not respond to inquiries for information and were therefore removed from the list.
"Hytsu had already shown indifference in the previous year so that we had to look for the company's business data on the Internet. We have now deleted the Chinese company. We did not find the information we were looking for," the list's authors say.
However, another Chinese manufacturer, Lonking (Shanghai) Forklift Co Ltd, is a newcomer to the list.
Other returns include Bulmor Industries GmbH, Perg (Austria) and PR Industrial Srl (Pramac), Italy. "They had each been excluded for a year because of an internal reorganisation (Bulmor) and a new start- up company (Pramac)," the authors explain.
The prerequisite for being included in the
dhf world ranking is a minimum turnover of EUR10 million (USD10.8 million) in the reporting year. The list's authors emphasise that the list is not complete or comprehensive as some major industry players decline to be included.
"We would stress that the ranking list shown here is based solely upon sales revenues during the financial year - expressed in Euros. The world ranking list does not contain any information about supplied quantities, nor about a manufacturer's suitability for inclusion."
