One of the leading packaging manufacturers wanted to automate their link between manufacturing and the warehouse as well as create dense storage of their finished goods. The challenge was to stack two 104" tall loads with empty plastic bottles or four unitized loads on slip sheets in their warehouse. The system automatically tracks the production as well as the inventory at hand.

Because the warehouse was a large open space with most of the columns embedded deep behind stacks of tall loads, a normal approach to laser guidance could not be taken.
Amerden AGVS was the company that provided an innovative and economical solution. Using laser navigation at 20 feet on an automatic movable laser navigation mast Amerden was able to solve the problem. Then utilizing the same AGV for loads on pallets and slip sheets saved money and time for the customer.

The system uses two laser guided fork vehicles with an automatic movable laser navigation mast for different ceiling heights. An onboard electric pusher device is used for the loads on slipsheet to keep the load in place as the AGV drives out. The vehicles link the six production pickup locations with one centralized stretch wrapper and then the warehouse.

In the warehouse the Amerden AGVS performs the stacking and deep lane storage of over 2300 load locations in 160 lanes, all monitored by the AGV System Manager (AGVSM) redundant PCs with inventory control module. Unitized loads are stacked 2 high for palletized product and up to 4 high for product on slip sheets. Intelligent automatic battery charging stations provide equalization charge schedules to maximize battery life and minimize system downtime. This 24 x 7 operation is another example of....
