Discussion:
Who's next?? Hitachi / TCM absorbing Nissan Forklift??

Really interesting news on this site - are we seeing the start of the next real Global consolidation of forklift manufacturers and brands?
First we saw Lansing / Linde, Boss / Jungheinrich, Hyster / Yale, Toyota / BT, Mitubishi / Rocla CAT, Nissan / Atlet,....
Now we have reports of Hitachi Construction who have TCM in the portfolio apparently looking at Nissan Forklift, how are we looking going forward? No more Still? no more Atlet? No more CAT? Will it be Hyster or Yale? Surely it has to stop somewhere this consolidation, or will we just have the 'DYSON' unique forklift, with no competition? !!!!!! Just a thought chaps.

Nissan is a good brand and good trucks. better than CAT/Mitsubishi that for sure.
NISSAN has not confirmed this yet this only speculation.

How will that work for the dealers in Europe do you think? With two brands, one goes direct (ATLET) and other (Nissan) is through a dealer network.

Nissan have made ATLET pull out of the American market directing everything into the Nissan network (probably to make it look more attractive to a buyer) - maybe Nissan will do the same in Europe, only in reverse. That leave the European dealers in a difficult position, doesn't it?

Good news for likes of CAT, Mitsi, Dossan and Toyota, though!!

Nissan will want there name as far away as possible from the deal when it is done. In Europe they will get away with Atlet and the rest of the world will be TCM

Will Nissan want their brand to be represented by another company, though? Surely, they'll want the name to be disolved into ATLET or TCM? Hitachi would be a good brand to give them a clean sheet of paper.

I think Nissan know that there business is going backwards in some parts of Europe so they might as well get as much as they can for it when the going is good. 3-4 years time the business will be worth half of what it is now

I see that TCM are building the 5-8T for Nissan. Maybe they were interested in buying Nissan/ATLET at one time as they would have given them an established route to the European market.

I doubt they are as keen now, though. The Nissan dealers are jumping ship all over the place. And we haven't seen the last of it yet I should imagine.

It looks like Nissan just want rid of a business they have no interest in anymore.

If TCM take over Nissan they might as well just sit in Asia and not export to Europe and North America. TCM just seem to be copied by the Chinese manufactures a bit like Nissan so they might as well just stay in Asia because they won't sell much else where

So put that in your PIPE HAWK thats the US sorted but Nissan and TCM can`t see it but i could see CROWN having a dig at Nissan and all those Atlet accounts. If not its a slow death for Nissan as they relaunch their tried and tested CHOP STICK division.

well if Cat goes away then Mitsubishi and the entire dealer network is in trouble in the USA, thats because most if not all Cat/Mitsubishi dealers push the Cat brand first and push it for more money then the Mitsubishi.

Hyster/Yale is never going away, Yale does very well on the east coast and Hyster does well on the west coast, Hyster also makes all the big trucks also.
