Discussion:
Whats happening with Doosan ?

Heard jungle drums today regarding Doosan Infracore. They are going to be pulling out of the Materials Handling Market to concentrate on other activities.
Will that have an impact on Carrylift ?

Am I right in thinking that doosan is daewoo in a new brighter box with the same promises and the cunning plan looks very similar. Where are daewoo now?

Well said RedtheDog, however i too would like to know what's happening with Doosan as per the original question as i heard today that they've fairly recently bought one of their dealers! Is this true? Are there going to be any more? Are they going to be going direct like Toyota & Linde etc? I guess it shows their long term commitment to forklifts (in contradiction to a few suspicions that they wanted to get out of forklifts) but what does it mean for their dealers?

I fail to see how the last contributions are relevant to the original question!! If you really need to know just get an update from Carrylift and Doosan!!

However, the badged question is the one I wanted to correct.
Whereas Nexen and Samuk are UK businesses that buy/bought from Far Eastern factories and then "badged up", ARTISON is owned by TAILIFT Taiwan. They sell it in many countries around the world where Tailift is not always sold. It gives the factory more opportunity.

So do you not think Mitsi, Doosan or Nissan are simply in it to line their pockets?? To look at it another way an importer or distributor needs to give support as it is their business at stake if they do not show willing to help with the 1 and 2 truck deals, unlike most of the manufacturers who normally don't care unless it is a large truck deal and it gives them the excuse to get it the SHD and give it the big "look at me!!"

Im sure budget/entry level trucks are a reasonable option if you simply want to supply a truck to your existing customers and if they aren't too fussed about the make, but don't you think that most buyers want to have an input into their purchase? However, if you want to grow your business, surely it would be better to align your company with a main-stream manufacturer like mitsi, Nissan, Doosan etc. I think you'll get much more support from these guys than simply an importer/distributor, who at the end of the day, can only be interested in lining their own pockets!

Sorry for the typo Tailift are there own machine apologies!! And to clarify Nexen did not badge the LS Yang machine we purchased the factory and yes initially we improved the existing machines before redesigning them but the X range has been designed from the ground up by Nexen.

How is a Tailift a badged product? considering it is built in Tailifts own fatory and was designed by Tailift how can it be badged? You should know as it is Nexen who used to BADGE Tailift machines and then LS Yang. I agree Samuk are badged as they are manufactured by HC but they make no secret of this and is freely advertised on their website.

Hi daryl j & peacock, The Nexen is not really anything like the usual Asian machines eg Artison, Samuk etc which as I said are badged products, we actually own our own factory and the quality of our machines is of the highest order and can compete with the so called big boys very well (both in price & performance) and handle any application thrown at them...if you want more info go to wwwdotnexenlifttrucksdotcom or call me 01502 532211.

Hi peacock look at nexen by all means just like an early nissan.
But also consider cesab as I have been told apart from the counter weight and the bonnet its toyota. You could also consider artison which is like the early TCM. Or alternatively you could try supplying a bit of quaility and sell some of the big boys I.E still, linde, jungheinrich, hyster all in the right application good work horses but more expensive if your customers have a taste for quaility and are not just buying it because it is cheap.
The saying goes you get what you pay for. Just a little example
Still were said to have the most fuel efficient truck in its class,I don`t know the figures but if you save £50 a week on fuel thats a lot of money at the end of a five year deal!!!

Hi Peacock, try our new Nexen X range, all new machines come with the option of oil cooled disc brakes, integral sideshifts and with fully floating cabins, DPS, anti roll back etc all machines are of highest quality and use only European, Japanese, Nth American components and unlike others it is not a badged product. What have you got to lose?? Could be the best decision you make this year.

Have supplied a few atlet machines already and the customers really like them and were priced pretty well too. Good dealer support. Have got CAM not too far away, so may not be an options and seems like the nissan dealers are all leaving so something cant be right there. not too keen on the chinese either, trucks look better, but quality is still not there and have had too many problems with the support and parts via their importers. Mitsi? CAT? Doosan? Cesab? Still?

Peacock, try Nissan. They are probably desperate for dealers to replace the ones they've lost or are about to lose! They're not serious about big dealers or fleet deals, so it might suit you down to the ground. An accessible place to start before you take on a serious dealership to compete in the market - or better still, just buy from Atlet direct, they're cheaper than what Nissan dealers are paying!!

Have you looked at the new Tailift product? New model has oil imersed disc brakes and floating powertrain. The company bringing them in is Industrial Truck Distribution Ltd. Web site is wwwdotindustrialtruckdistributiondotcom. Worth a look it looks a good product.

Good spot just a guy, i dont hear about them too much up my way but with the st gobain deal via rushlift in the news, it looks like theyre winning a bit of business. Historically, theyve had quite small dealers and lots of them, but it seems like theyve managed to attract a few bigger dealers over the past couple of years who seem to find something beneficial in them. I run a small dealership and am looking for a new truck supplier, any recommendations?
