Announcement just posted on the Changeworks Communications website confirming that Briggs will become sole UK dealer for Yale.

"Briggs Equipment UK Ltd, a leading national independent service provider and materials handling equipment specialist, has today announced a proposal to start a new working partnership with Yale Materials Handling and is now considering the full alignment of its dealership with the on-going global growth strategy of its parent company - Briggs International Inc."

Lord knows what will happen to the Cat brand in the UK now.....anyone aware who will/may take it on?

Rushlift aren't big enough to take on Cat in UK SMH tried to take on Clark and failed ,Rushlift will sink CAT in UK if they take them on. Toyota,Linde and Junghienric will kill them off.

It is not going to pay to have two brands using same truck. Mainly all the Chinese trucks are the same Yale Hyster Cat Mits are all going to suffer if they carry on using the same basic trucks. Yale in the UK is not as well know as Hyster so NACCO will stick to Hyster unless they are looking to drop barlow

To survive in the UK the manufactures will have to go direct MCFE have done a deal in USA with Junghienrich maybe they will do the same in Europe or just go through Mitsubishi

It is the manufacturers who have created the current low margin UK lift truck market by under cutting the dealers, Linde Toyota and Junghienrich being the main 3. So i suppose you are right in suggesting the only option for the rest is not to fight it but join in.
Dealers can only survive with support from the manufacturers, if the support is taken away they become uncompetitive in the market place. The fact is there are too many people chasing to little work, ideally a big player needs to go bust and disappear, leaving some room for the rest to grow a little.

I understand that MCFE are in discussions with various people regarding their dealership in the UK. Names mentioned are Rushlift, Impact and the current Briggs sub dealer network.

Anyone heard anything ??

Personally I would have thought they would take this opportunity to go direct in the UK especially as there are numerous ex Finning/Briggs/Harvey employees in the UK who would relish the opportunity to make it extremely difficult for the current dealer when they take on another brand.

Is there enough margin in the UK Lift Truck market to sustain dealer representation ??

Andy, there was a large web attack on very many computers running the software that serves up this type of dynamic web page that the forum is,
add you own http and :// and www
theregister.co.uk/2010/06/09/mass_webpage_attack/
I think we can be pretty sure that was the problem, and we can also be pretty sure it was cleaned up right away by forkliftactions IT staff.
