Discussion:
What Year and Model is this old Hyster?

Hi,

I just bought a Hyster lift truck. Still figuring out what year and model it is and could use some help. The post required I specify a model number, so I picked one at random and I don't believe that's correct. The actual model is part of what I'm trying to figure out.

Seller says it's rated to lift 5 tons. Don't see a way to add pictures to this message, but it's the one in my avatar. (Oops! I'm new here and the avatar picture is still pending approval.) Has dualies up front. Pneumatic tires all the way around.

She's got a six cylinder gasoline Teledyne Continental F227 inline flathead engine with a Zenith carburetor. According to Zenith carburetor application information available online, that would seem to make the year between 1966 and 1976. Engine serno is as follows:

F227A605607R

The forklift serno on the right aft topside of the body is pretty well obliterated by age and rust, but I believe it reads as follows:

C5D19469X

She runs OK on an electric fuel pump and with the choke on, so I believe I'll be needing a mechanical fuel pump and a carburetor repair kit. Have already bought the kit on eBay and it's in the mail; still looking for the fuel pump.

Any help I can get identifying what model this lift truck is, or in finding a fuel pump for this engine, would sure be appreciated. Answers here or via email are fine.

Thanks in advance,

Clint

Thanks fellas.

Through this forum and other research we've learned she's an H80C of approximately 1969 vintage. The truck is running pretty well and the hydraulics all work, but we've obtained parts for the ignition tuneup and carb rebuild anyway, and will probably get into that this weekend, along with general maintenance so she'll be as good as can be.

Thanks for the help. Keep it up! ;-)

Best regards,

Clint

On the older units they dropped the first two zero's.
Your serial number is C005D19469X
Model: H60-90C

Thanks Danny. What seems to be missing in the serno?

Acording to the last number of your serial number which denotes the year, iy would be a 1977, but the serial number does not look complete.
