Discussion:
WAVE refuses to charge

My wave is just about dead, so I put in on charge, but almost immediately is shows it is fully charged. When I unplug it, it is just as dead as before, the battery light flashes and it barely moves.

I tried the trick of turning it on the moment you unplug it to try to reset the BDI, but I don't think that's the problem with this one.

What could the problem be?

Found the problem; it was the transformer. It was weird because no one thought that would be the problem, but on a whim we switched out one from another wave with that one and the problem was fixed immediately.

When batteries age they sluff off positive plate material. If this debris settles on the plates it can short out. This bridging will result in the cell voltage spiking when you charge the battery. The spike in voltage tells the charger that the battery is full charged and the charger will shut off before the battery receives any charge. That is why it is important to watch the voltage with the charger plugged in. If the voltage climbs very fast the cells or cell is shorted.

What do you mean by the batteries being bridged?

Put a voltmeter on the batteries and watch what happens when you plug in the charger. Your batteries are probably bridged causing the voltage to rise to full charged levels.
