Discussion:
Transmission has no pressure

I have changed the torque converter and pump with still no pressure. I removed valve body and cleaned it and replaced. Solenoids are working good pulling in the valves for forward and reverse. Even checked to make sure inching pedal was adjusted correctly. Any other sugesstions?

I'm not familiar with your exact model- I assume you have a distributor? There a few things to check:
power voltage to the ignition coil
visual inspection of the cap & rotor
condition of the spark plug wires

The spark should jump at least 1/2" & be bright blue (from the end of the wire to a known good ground source)

Let us know how you make out after doing these checks

Also you want to make sure the inching cable/linkage is adjusted properly. If it is not adjusted properly it will make the transmission slip or not enguage right.
If I'm not mistaken the Yale trucks have a linkage setup with an adjustable rod. You will need a pressure gauge hooked up while setting it up.

davidr- there is an adjustment in the rod which actuates the brake master cyl. Adjust this rod so there is a slight (1/4") slack between when you push the brake pedal & you feel resistance when it starts to push the plunger in the master cyl.

The plunger needs to get back to its "rest" position to bleed off any residual pressure in the brake hydraulic circuit. The circuit is designed to hold about 7lbs- any more than that & you'll start to have issues.

I had another one doing the same thing and changed out the pump after changing the filter, oil,and sump filter. have you tested the pressures for the forward and reverse sides and torque converter pressure? Just a thought.

:o)

good deal

now that you have pressures and the truck has pulling power i would run the truck through a stall test and see if it is slipping any. If you don't get any slipping during stall test then you should be ok to run it.

Yes used pressure gauges to check all pressures on the valve body like book says. I will pull the sump strainer filter and check and clean it.

pull the sump screen (strainer filter screen) from base of tranny and check that? clean it?
we can assume you changed the main filter?

you are using pressure guage checking pressures at the control valve?
