Discussion:
trans not engaging - codes

hello, i have a hyster 210hd w/ Cummins LPG. s/n G007E03126D

i have been having this intermittent problem where the trans won't engage after start-up. i get a hard fault and an alarm and the little service light comes on. normally i can clear the fault by re-starting the truck but it does not work anymore, its stuck. last week i noticed the fault came up when i shifted into rev. i restarted and shifted into forward then back into rev. and it worked. now i cannot get around, it comes on every time i start it. i am not sure what direction to look in other than its tranny related. my best guess is maybe neutral switch issue. here's the funny part, it does show a code on the display, however the display is damaged and i am unable to accurately read it. any tips, tricks, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated

I have 14 tn. It's showing after heating to operating temperatures, it disengages gear and shows fault code T2060. What's the problem. Where do I check

the sensor is located inside the cover assembly on the transmission control valve. It is at the end of the control valve and has the harness made onto it.

and yes i was going to suggest replacing that display so you can see whats going on, its pretty important to be able to see things there :o) The only other way to access the system that i know of is with laptop diagnostic program from hyster. Purchasing a service and parts manual would be a good idea in your situation. They will not sell you the diagnostic program, that is a certified dealer tech only item not available to the public.
You can diagnose most of what is going on with this truck through the dash display so get that taken care of first.

as for finding out information on your machine, your dealer can give you that over the phone when given a full model and serial number. The engine type and other information should be on a dataplate on the engine.
The transmission should have it's own dataplate with information on it.

i do not have any reliable hyster service for quite a distance in any direction in my area, which leaves me with me. could you explain to me where this pressure switch is located on the transmission. is there any tricks for removal? also, there must be a way i can read the codes its displaying, is there a way to purchase either a new display for the unit or a code reader for it, or both? do you have a short list of transmission codes that i could try to compare?

one more thing, how can i find out some more detailed information about this forklift. things like the year, trans type, engine type and other related info would be helpful. i know very little about this truck and it is good to know your equipment, especially when you need service.

since you cannot see what the error code is then it would be a long shot guess as to what is causing this fault.

i did check in hypass for this truck by the serial number you gave and it did reveal a service gram about a switch issue
(gram number CI00033, SUBJECT: TE-10, TE-27 & TE-32 Transmission Pressure Feedback Switch and Harness)
It says the switch can go bad due to an internal membrane failure causing the symptoms you describe but this does not mean that is what is wrong with it, since we can't see the code we would still be guessing at it.

Your best bet is to call hyster and have them send out a tech to hook up to the machine and see whats going on.
