After purchasing and not getting the new forklift last year, Toyota provided us with a loaner until the new forklift was ready. While the price of our 5K lift increased $3000 less a $2000 rebate, they were really very decent. I understand that Toyota had to pay a multimillion $$ fine to EPA due to not complying with the required emission standards. Expect that the emissions from the new propane lift will be significantly better for operation in our warehouse. Their forklift is excellent.
Following up on this old post. New Toyota LP trucks have started being delivered this week.
This is what comes from taking notice of uneducated teenage environmental "experts" and their ilk. Toyota has the integrity to stand back and resolve the issue, my advice would be the same as what has been offered, wait until Toyota is happy that they can produce a truly compliant lift.
I have the same issue. Any tips for solution?
I would think there are other brand models available that would met your spec.
Personally i would stay away from the chinese built equipment. Please note!
i did not recommend any specific brand. Find the closest dealer that has good service and go with them. I hate to see what happened to Toyota , but it happened
As an alternative for those aisles and yet can be used as a standard counter balance why not look at the Combilift CB series ?. www.combilift.com. Thankfully there are always alternatives.
Seems your options are
Option 1. Wait 2 years for deliver of the Toyota
Option 2. Buy the Chinese made forklift - local service & parts availability (aka product support) maybe an issue - do your research - low price often does not always equate to top level reliability/quality - again do your research
Option 3. Cancel your purchase and buy another forklift brand - the turning radius and right angle stacking aisle capabilities of a 5K propane FL are very similar from brand to brand. When it comes to maneuverability the right angle stacking aisle is capability is more important than turn radius. See right angle stack aisle has four components - 1.) turning radius + 2.) front overhang - distance from center of the front drive wheel to the face of the carriage or side/shifter + 3.) length of the load/pallet to be handled + 4.) + 4" to 6" operating clearance for easy operating.
a 5K LP cushion tired forklift is designed to work in a 12' aisle (from rack face to rack face) while handling a 48" long load/pallet.
Option 4.) Consider buying a 5K electric battery powered cushion tired forklift. They are more maneuverable than an equivalent engine power lift but are more expensive to purchase or lease) but can save you money over the the service life of the unit via less costly periodic maintenance/operating cost & cleaner operation
We were told that it will be about 2 years before we can get the 5k propane forklift we purchased this year. I understand that these forklifts are not currently being sold in the US due to EPA Certification requirements. Toyota reached out to us to discuss alternative option which include purchasing a Chinese forklift. We need a small turning radius for our warehouse operations which include going up a ramp and toyota is our best option.
