Make sure your lift truck battery is good shape and also check static straps. I have a customer who has 14 Model 5600's and i had to replace 4 steer amps on different trucks in same month. All 4 trucks were missing static straps and batteries were in dire need of watering. They had watering systems installed , but still need to do cell to cell checks periodically.

Yup...that seems to be the usual culprit. Same with GD codes on the 7400!

Ain't nothing I can't fix but a broken heart and the break of day!
Never mind it was the steer amplifier!

I have 06s, 08s, and 10s. Same diagnostics and you'll find it probably the same thing. Make sure to check CR1 on the fuse relay card...if it looks like a resistor instead of just a jumper, change the card before changing the steer amp as it's cheaper. Also, we've noticed if the operator touches the steer tiller during start up it'll pop these codes intermittently.

Same meaning for the code but different diagnostics. Run test I29 (neutral steer pulses) it should quickly toggle between ON and OFF. If not attach + lead of your DVOM to JPT6-1 and - lead to JPT6-4 on the vehicle Mgr. With the deadman pedal up you should have <4 volts. If it does replace the VM and if it doesn't it's your steer amplifier or wiring. Usually it will be the steer amplifier.

I am working on a 540-0PC30TT with the same code. Would this be the same diagnostics? Thanks.

Open in the steer power circuit
The electric steer manager is not reading the steer motor current properly.

Run test A22

Odds are it's either the steer motor or the gear on the bottom. If you jack up the truck and wiggle the steer disc on top of the motor does it turn? If it doesnt then check the gear on the bottom of the steer motor.. If thats OK odds are its the steer motor.
