I agree. Not only are only used trucks the only trucks being sold but it seems like only low end used trucks are selling.
I repeat my same old mantra- even in the best of times there's just not enough profit in this business. I was just at a customer's this morning. He told me that they use to make machines that sold for $1,000,000.00. The companies that they sold them to in the semi conductor industry took how long do you think to recoup their investment. Would you believe 30 whole days. Now that's profit.
Its bad all over dude, most of the salesmen friends I have are either flipping burgers or out of the forklift biz altogether. I really dont think things will improve until 2011 or beyond. Used trucks are about the only real thing moving in quantity right now.
UP in Minneapolis market I am noticing an uptick in bussiness and quoting activity, The econonmy still *** but I think are ust to it *** and now just have to press forward
The company I am working for has slowed slightly, no field techs have been laid off, and we are still hiring to fill vacancies. although new lift truck sales are down used sales are doing well. I have heard other lift truck companies in the area have laid off but I dont know if that is true. I think things are OK here for the most part.
