Marengo since Aled posted this nearly 10 years ago, i am sure the unit is out of warranty by now. But any follow up no matter how long after an original post is still helpful. And as always any input is always helpful.
Hello Aled: It sounds to me like you're talking to the Warranty department in USA. Did they also tell you that this was the first time they ever heard a complaint like this?
Hey Barry M where in the bop are u, do u still repairs Nissan circuit boards ? off a P01 BE. Im in Hamilton, how can I contact you ?Hey Barry M can you sms me so I can contact you please, 0272882076, cheers JD
I have repaired many of these cards with this problem over the years and so far the repair cost has always been under NZ$300. I often wonder about some of the outrageous amounts some people charge for these repairs.
Is this part of a Nissan service gram? If so could you send it to me?
on po 1/2 when you have replaced the igbt (use 100 amp) hold down buttons 1 and 3 swith on and go up to steering and change current limit and steering effort to 85% from the original 110%.(official nissan service information)
If you cannot get the board repaired and are willing to use it with it as is then you can always add a contactor in series with the motor and feed the contactor coil supply off some form of interlock switch handbrake, seat switch etc. Most likely will still have a error code on the display though, but should work your steer motor.
This problem can be fixed for under $1000.00.
Send me board and I will repair.
I will return the repaired board to you
with a new set (2) of IGBT transistors.
I have done about eight in the last year or so
with no returns, incuding two for Nissan!

Dear freetman,
You can try refer to RS component or farnell component for 75/100 amp IGBT.
Normally if I found steering malfunction, we will modify using local make steering board.
Does anybody know the part number is for the 75 amp IGBT's?
i think he means they steer it till it hits the stops and holds it there and the steer valve goes into bypass wich works the motor harder
all traction/pump/steer systems will suffer if ur not religious with ur charging habits
the difference between old and new equipment is the cost of contactor tips and recs over entire transistor boards
itll take 5 breakdowns of an old scr system to equal 1 blown board
hard lessons to learn
here in ny ppl are very stubborn trying to push 20 hours use on a 4 hour charge and they dont understand y i am there twice a week lol
when the voltage is low the amps go up and so does resistance so if there is a bad connection/ solder point or anything the problem increases exponentially as resistance increases as bad components get hotter and poof ur out 4500 us dollars on 1 call
also check for worn motor bearings or any restrictions/ crimped hydraulic lines in the steer system
What do you mean by steering lock?
Also check the steer motor for earth leakage as carbon build up can cause the units to fail.
Hi welshman.
its true that you must have a PO2 that a very reliable truck generally-However the weak parts are the steering & the pump contacter.
We here in Canada have had a lot of problems with the steering issues.
It is the weakest part of the truck you need to keep on top of the maintenence of the steering motor which also has a sensor inside of it - definately not one of nissans better ideas- however getting back to your Question you can buy a Rebuilt card from your friendly nissan dealer they may ( the parts dept ) not be aware of this or to lazy to check.
The other weak piont is the pump contacter if you have transisteroised panel you are ok but if you purchased the cheap model you will be burning out the contact tips every 5 mins there is a relativly cheap fix for this let me know if you need the info.
