CAT DP35K - Stops - hard to start

Hello, Looking for some help. I have started a question the same as this about 6 months ago and the problem has come back.
The unit will run fine........but will shut off with no warning........the driver will pump the heck out the primer pump until button is hard...........the unit will then start............I have changed filters, cleaned out fuel tank, bled system, re and re primer assembly. So here is my question.....has anybody had a problem with the electric solenoid shut off on the bottom of the pump or bad wiring???????

also ANY crack in the hoses on suction side of the fuel pump may allow just enough air in so that the unit stalls, if you can bend the fuel line and it has ANY cracks, replace that section of suction hose. air is so much finer than diesel fuel that the leak is almost never visably wet, and causes stalling only when running hard, almost never at idle.

I also had one (Yale) that the tiny hole in the filler cap gets plugged and shuts down after running a while.

ive had trucks with the wrong tank cap all together (not vented)
i had a guy call me in
he replaced the injectors, pump, lift pump
i walk up to it he cranks it, nothing
i open the tank and i hear a very loud "WOOSH" i go ok try it now
started up lol
new cap, never had another issue

run the return to the tank into a bucket
make sure you have fuel returning to the tank

other than that
ive had all sorts of issues with those filter bases but not shut downs
usually its issues getting it primed after changing the filter (i prime them dry, pouring "clean" (unfiltered) fuel into it can bypass the filter medium and it really doesnt take much more effort to prime them dry)

Yeh, quite a bit of trouble with the plunger, coil gets weak as it gets hot, there not that expensive so it would be the best place to start. Love faults like this, ones that jump back into life as soon as the truck see's an engineer pull up on site!

You don't say if all the lights stay on at the dash board when the truck chucks it? Assuming they all go out maybe a dodgy fuseable link?

Assuming they stay on maybe a blocked fuel filler cap not allowing tank to vent and causing a vacuum in the tank?

The small 90 degree inlet pipe into the primer head gets blocked quite easily, take the filter off and blow through the pipe into the head.

I assume it's the same spec as the UK and has a DPA pump on it? I had a sneaky little one once, years ago whereby the return from the pump was collapsed internally and was causing an in-balance inside the pump. The return pressure was equal to the inlet pressure and it just kept on bailing out every now and then. Never happened since but it's one of the ones you never forget as it was that weird.

Sounds like fun, no doubt it'll raise it's ugly head again in about 6 months time!!

Try changing the filter head / primer assembly.
