Hyster R30XMS2:
Hyster RX30m drive not engaging when cold

Hi All,

We have an old Hyster rx30m order picker (EV100 controller) that we love, but has started to give us some problems.

We swapped a faulty rectifier that fixed a problem about 2 years ago of the drive only engaging in one direction.

Now we have a problem that when it gets cold (ie. 6-10deg celisus), the picker doesnt want to move at all (ie. forwards and backwards). The drive wheel will turn left / right, and the contacts on the realys click on, but still nothing. However, if we heat the reactor conductor area, it starts moving again!

We have replaced the reactor/conductor, both rectifiers but still having issues. Its not throwing any codes on handset.

Any ideas appreciated!!?!?!?

The control card cannot check itself. Some times they just stop working correctly. there will not be a code.

Thanks Brewski,

We have checked at it seems fine. Also, the card isnt showing any errors. Im assuming what you are describing would throw an error?

SCRs can be temp sensitive. The control card can also be temp sensitive.

Thanks Brewski,

Would warming up the SCR cause it to start working?

You should be getting an error if the directional contactors are closing. If the directional are closing you can eliminate any switches. You can check for a gate signal to the #1 scr. If you have a signal and no movement the SCR is faulty.
