Discussion:
A stupid question

I have recently acquired a Komatsu FG-35-1 forklift with a Nissan gas engine at an auction. I need to make a few repairs and I need the model and serial number of the engine. I have looked everywhere. Where is the plate with the engine information located? Any help appreciated.

Just an FYI.
If I remember that truck right it has support bars that bolt lengthwise to the engine and trans. We have seen them come loose and the engine and trans separate. Basically the engine tilts downward fan first. They wiped out starters / ring gears in no time.

Sorry for the delay in response.

The C indicates clutch type manual transmission, which is what our records indicate how the truck was built - along with the engine model I previously stated. If it does not have this engine in it, then it is possible someone swapped the engine out with something else.

What do you need the engine model and s/n for? Ar eyou looking for some part in particular?

Maybe it's P40 Nissan engine. Try this :www dot cd-auto dot ru. They have engine manuals for fg35-1 forklifts. It's in russian off course, but you can try to e-mail them and ask wether the manuals are in english or not

Jeff....My model number is an FG-35-1. There is no "C" in the model. The serial number is as you stated 60110. Does this make a difference? Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated!

I appreciate all the advice but I checked all around the distributor and could find no sign of any serial number or engine model number. I have searched from one end to the other. I'm stumped.

Hello Riley,

FG35C-1 #60110 was shipped to Canada in 1975 with Nissan PPU240 Engine.

On most Nissan engines there is a flat surface located somewhere near where the distributor goes into the engine block where Nissan stamps the Engine Model and S/N.

FYI, the Komatsu Parts Book No. for this engine is PPU240-PE4 and although not normally stocked due to the age of the truck is still available from Komatsu. Contact your local Komatsu Forklift dealer by using the dealer locator at www dot kfiusa dot com

Its a 6 cylinder gasoline powered Nissan Engine. The forklift model number is a Komatsu FG-35-1. S/N 60110

Hope this helps. Thanks.

Is this a 4 or 6 cylinder? Also, is that the correct model number? -1 sounds like an old truck.
