Eagle Picher RT60 Forklift

After replacing a bad alternator, had an issue with the new alternator not charging. Ran a direct ignition wire to alternator and alternator does charge but will not shut off, has a back feed from alternator. Is there a wiring diagram or relay that we need to change as well? it is a 2002 RT60 - ser # 2T602WD2RT01166. Thanks in advance for your help.

If you need to run a wire , run it from the accessory side of the key switch , not ignition side.

Sounds like there's a blown charging indicator light, do any lights on the dash come on when the ignition key is turned to run but not start?
