This GCX55 has a 4 cyl. gas perkins w/ a Lucas distributor. Is there another brand that will fit the truck. Someone suggested a caterpillar distributor 4W0475 will fit the clark. Does anyone know?

clark tends to bastardized their trucks. This machine has a factory insert of sort that only allows for a Lucas dist, stuck spending a whole bunch of $$$$.
The cat distributor Pt # 4W0475 interchanges with Clark Pt #1806549. The Clark distributor is smaller in diameter at the cap than the Cat. I used the Clark dist. in a Cat V80E with the Perkins gas because the Cat dist was $750 & the Clark was $240.
The replacement Clark dist- which came in a Clark box turned out to be a Pertronix unit. I've replaced it twice under warranty in about 1 year
Yes Edward, I don't think the 2 are interchangeable
well I didn't check the search the part number I do know there is a caterpillar distributor for a Perkins 4 cylinder gas that will fit the Clark
