Discussion:
Battery trouble with Toyota 7FBRE

Hi,

We have a Toyota 7FBRE16-3. The battery is supposed to be quite recent & lightly used, and the connectors between cells look ok.

However, right after charging, the battery meter immediately shows empty, and the system is in "crawl home mode", i.e. moves slowly.

I'm really no pro with these, and I don't have a proper load test, but the battery measures 48,5V after a recharge. I've also measured the voltage while lifting forks and pushing/pulling the mast: it drops to 47,6 and then comes back up.

Is the battery really just totally dead, or is there something I can check/reset/fix to get more hours from it?

Thanks,

Petri

yep forkingabout is right, a good charged 48v battery should read 50v+ when fully charged.
Are you sure its charging?
check the charger output while charging

as far as your load test the volt drop doesnt sound excessive so i wouldnt say you have any bad cells as far as that goes, but you can take a volt meter and check each cell and see if you have any that are particularly low, reading below 2.2v.
Also check the SG per cell and see what the state of the acid is in. A decent specific gravity reading on a charged battery should read anywhere from 1.275 to 1.300 or higher.
If they all are about even then i'd go back to the charger.

I'd expect to see at least 50 volts in the battery when it's fully charged up.

Have you checked for any dead cell's?

You say the battery is recent / lightly used, Is it the correct range AH battery for the truck & is the battery parameter set correctly?

This truck is just a BT Reflex RR B with Toyota stickers on.
