Discussion:
Nissan 1F1 Fuel issue

Have a customer that had a code E-38 on their Nissan forklift(MCP1F1A15LV) this was about the 5th truck in two weeks that has had this code, rebuilt the NIKKI regulator/converter and set my fuel PSI to 4 1/2 pounds, the trucks starts now but wont only idle very low and wont rev up. I took the injector out and took off the injector holder and cleaned any tar that i could find that may of gotten past the regulator, was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them on a code E-38 on a Nissan K21 Engine? the truck still dosent want to rev up when you step on the pedal it will start and idle half way decent but no throttle and there are no codes showing on the dash now?
I have a new injector am going to install this morning and see if that cures my problem. I am thinking a bunch of tar got past the regulator when it blew a diaphram and now the injetor and injector holder have a bunch of tar in it clogging things up and not letting enough fuel thru???

Well second one in less than a week, was called to one of my customers today for a code E-38,truck would start and run good and has throttle response for a couple minutes then nothing, regualtor is fine PSI is good at 4.5-5 PSI,getting another injector in the AM and going to this customer and install,is on a diffrent model Nissan(MU1F2A25LV) but same engine.
When it starts loosing throttle resonse if you shut the truck off it will start right back up and have response again for a couple minutes then looses it again.

Checked the "last chance" screen,on the newer trucks is just under the vapor inlet tube to the mixer, looks the same as the older style that sat on top of the mixer underneath the small cover held on with two screws,it even has the same clip holding the screen in place,i checked this and was clean and clear.

kevin,
yes i have seen this same issue on trucks with this system on it. They had issues with the injector like this... we tried cleaning them but usually we wound up replacing the injector because of comtamination. One other thing that came to mind was inside the injector body underneath the pressure sensor some of them had a thin mesh filter screen that could get clogged up as well, we were instructed to replace that as well. If yours has one i'd replace that too next chance you get if yours has they type of sensor on it.

Have you used the dash dislpay to monitor fuel pressure to see if your ecm is seeing what your pressure guage is seeing? If not check the wires around the fuel pressure sensor.
